the context
A company in the healthcare industry that produces IoMT devices, to increase the adoption of its products, has decided to invest in a patient management app that uses IoMT devices to improve monitoring and interactions.

The application has to be designed for use by medical personnel and subsequently a version for patients is planned to be developed.

The complexity of the conxtext revolves around the peculiar needs of the target and the industry itself.
DESIGN PROCESS

AS THE DEFINITION OF THE PHASES OF THE DESIGN.
Research: it allowed to frame the healthcare sector and how the patient-IoMT device-medic interaction works.

Ideation: it fostered the generation of paths and ideas later defined and synthesized.

Prototyping: it translated ideas into testable solution to verify their validity.
DESK RESEARCH: healthcare & IoT

TO HIGHLIGHT the evolution of patient monitoring.
The research conducted revolved around a literature review that served to identify emerging trends and challenges in the IoMT app development.

This phase was followed by a competitor benchmark that defined the state of the art of this kind of device also concer the regulatory standards.

Lastly, the market research highlighted the increasing demand for remote patient monitoring software.
KEY FINDINGS
• MONITORING
Traditional patient monitoring is insufficient, emphasizing the need for a shift to continuous and real-time monitoring to improve healthcare outcomes.
• ADOPTION
A rising adoption of IoMT devices is happening in response to the growing demand for remote patient monitoring, resulting in a significant opportunity.
• IoMT DEVICES
The exploration of emerging technologies led to define IoMT devices as essential for real-time data collection, underlining their pivotal role in reshaping healthcare activities.

field RESEARCH: user INTERVIEWS

foRM THE DESK RESEARCH TO THE PERSONAS.
As soon as the desk research ended, user interviews began with the scope of confirming the hypothesis obtained from the earlier findings and identifying new layers of needs and pain points.

The interviews revolved around 8 people of which 5 were doctors and 2 were nurses and 1 was the secretary for a polyclinic. The approach used was a structured one.
WECARE

empowering patients, one tap at a time.
WeCare is a patient management app that provides continuous patient monitoring and real-time acknowledgment through IoMT devices, direct communication, and patient's organization.

WeCare is meant to be adopted by doctors to handle emergencies, appointments and gain meaningful insights about each clinic case.
Access to information

HANDLING DATA OVERLOADS WITH HIERARCHY AND CONTROLS.
This app faces a significant information overload, hence hierarchy and control based on urgency and personalization of the informations are crucial aspects for a correct use and understanding of the functions.

Through the adoption of shortcuts and extensive interaction between the various menus, it is possible to establish organization and control among the information.
COMPONENTS

HELPING TO IDENTIFY AND MANAGE EMERGENCIES AND PATIENTS.
The components are created around the alerts reporting patients' health status. While navigating the app, the medical personnel must be able to distinguish and intervene in an emergency.

The interface is kept as simple as possible, and the "Emergency" pop up is designed to stand out from all the other elements.
Design system
The idea behind the design system revolved around the prioritization of the information. The colors picked have been highly distinguished between main colors (soft and pastel-like) and alerts (very vivid and clear), to maximize the visibility of the latter. The font picked for the entire system is Poppins.

Why did i pick
this project?
I think WeCare is a good example of creating a solution for a complex industry such as healthcare. This project directly confronts the urgent demand for real-time patient monitoring, aligning with the dynamic trends shaping the industry.

Despite facing the challenge of a stringent schedule and a limited time window for the project completition, the output turned out to be solid.
